Today’s Boston liposuction techniques can eliminate areas of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods, offering quicker and easier recovery compared to traditional liposuction. Boston plastic surgeons Dr. Samaha and Dr. Phelan offer advanced techniques including Tickle Liposuction to help their patients rid themselves of unwanted fat with less pain and bruising.

If You Are Considering Tickle Liposuction

For men considering liposuction, Tickle Liposuction may be a great option. Tickle Liposuction—also known as Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture—can remove localized fat deposits more quickly than some other forms of liposuction, with minimal patient discomfort, decreased downtime, and no risk for thermal burns. Named for the tickling sensation some patients experience during the procedure, Tickle Lipo utilizes the traditional small tubes called cannulas to remove the fatty tissue beneath the skin. However, in Tickle Lipo, these cannulas are activated by air pressure, causing them to vibrate and rotate beneath your skin’s surface to remove fat.

Tickle Lipo can be performed on many areas of the body (such as the arms, abdomen, and thighs) to remove stubborn fat deposits and even works well when utilized near the skin’s surface. In order to undergo the procedure with our surgeons, you should be a healthy nonsmoker at a stable body weight and be able to weigh the benefits and risks of undergoing this type of surgical procedure.

What to Expect From Surgery

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia. It can take anywhere from one to two hours to complete, depending on the treatment area and the amount of fatty tissue to be removed. Small incisions will be made in the treatment area and your surgeon will then use the vibrating cannula—a small, hollow tube for fat removal—to administer a tumescent fluid, which numbs the area and makes the fatty tissue easier to remove. The troublesome fat will be suctioned out until the desired results have been achieved and then your surgeon will close the incisions with sutures and apply a dress and surgical tape.

Liposuction Aftercare

After your procedure, you may experience some swelling and discomfort for a few days. Compression garments should be worn for up to three weeks after treatment to help with contouring the body and ensuring proper healing.

If you maintain a healthy lifestyle after your procedure, fat should not return to the treated areas. You can enjoy your results for years to come.
