The non-surgical solution for eyebrow, submental, and neck lifting
Are you noticing sagging skin? As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and elastin, proteins that keep skin firm and in place. When these proteins break down, we eventually see a droopy brow, sagging jowls, and a crepey neck area. With the Sofwave™ technology, our providers at Boston Plastic Surgery can delay this process and help you see results in just one treatment. Our plastic surgeons are excited to now offer this non-surgical skin tightening option to their patients.
What is Sofwave?
Sofwave™ innovative technology revitalizes the skin by stimulating new collagen production. Sofwave’s Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam Technology (SUPERB™) has been cleared by the FDA to lift the eyebrow, submental, and neck areas while also reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
Benefits of Sofwave
Patients experiencing skin laxity have options when it comes to treatment. A surgical facelift may not be needed to achieve your goals or fit into your busy lifestyle. Here are the benefits:
- Results after 1 treatment
- Non-invasive/non-surgical
- Effective on all skin types and tones
- Treats the face, brow, neck, and submental area
- Treatment time is 30-45 minutes
- No downtime – resume normal activity immediately after treatment
- Can delay the need for a surgical facelift
- FDA cleared
How does Sofwave work?
Using Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam SUPERB™ technology, ultrasound energy passes through the skin’s surface (the epidermis), heating the mid-dermal tissue at just the precise depth (1.5mm) and temperature (140-158 degrees). This process rejuvenates collagen fibers and triggers the body’s wound healing response to quickly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and visibly lift the skin. The handpiece has an integrated cooling system, called Sofcool™, to keep you comfortable and protect the surface layer of skin.
What you can expect in a Sofwave treatment
After your consultation, our team will walk you through the treatment process and answer any questions you may have. A numbing cream is applied to the skin 1 hour prior to make you more comfortable during the procedure. Once the numbing cream is absorbed, an ultrasound gel is applied all over the treatment area. The Sofwave wand is passed over the skin to allow the ultrasound waves to permeate the surface layer. During the procedure, our team will ensure you are not experiencing any pain and make adjustments if needed. Any noticeable discomfort is temporary and resolves as soon as the treatment is completed. Once the treatment is over we may suggest a hydrating serum to help calm any redness. Your skin should resume its normal color within 30 minutes to 2 hours.
When will I see results from Sofwave?
Patients can see results as soon as 1 week after treatment. Over the course of 12 weeks following treatment, the collagen regeneration is completed and patients will notice ongoing improvement during that time.
Am I a good candidate for Sofwave?
The aging process is unique to each individual, but here are some indicators of a good candidate:
- Are 30 years or older
- Have with mild to moderate skin sagging
- Have some degree of fine lines and wrinkles
